Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry received yesterday a delegation from Italy that comprised a select group of journalists who represent big Italian newspapers and magazines and television stations, which visited the Chamber to view its role, work and vision.
The delegation, which is visiting Sharjah at the invitation of Sharjah government, was received by Khaled bin Butti Al Hajeri, Director General, who welcomed the delegation and presented a detailed illustration of the Chamber’s role and vision, as a driving force for commercial and industrial development in Sharjah.
The delegation toured the Chamber’s different facilities in Al Hajeri’s company, who recalled the Chamber’s history, management, branches, activities and services provided for its members, highlighting its endeavor to contribute to Sharjah’s pioneering economic status as a regional hub for global trade, which in turn supports the UAE’s efforts to sustain its economic position globally and enhances its ability to attract investment.
Sharjah Chamber’s Director General expressed his gratitude to Sharjah government for organizing this visit that promotes the emirate and supports the Chamber’s efforts in representing its members’ interests, by opening the doors to communication and cooperation with the relevant entities outside the country and develop commercial relations continually, thereby achieving prosperity and competition in the global market, in addition to enhancing commerce in the emirate.
Al Hajeri said that Sharjah works hard in line with the directives of His Highness Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammad Al Qassimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, and the close follow-up of HH Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammad bin Sultan Al Qassimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, to make Sharjah an inspiring global model for business and prosperous living.
He added that Sharjah has become an excellent destination for foreign investment and a major commercial axis in the region, utilizing its strategic location between east and west and overlooking the Arabian Gulf and the Indian Ocean, which helped it qualify as a transit gate for about 160 countries and more than a billion people, in addition to being an economic force in itself, contributing about a third of the earnings of the transformative industries sector, as well as its importance as a prosperous cultural and tourist destination.
Al Hajeri emphasized the important role being played by the media in projecting a realistic impression of the huge achievements made by Sharjah in recent years, contributing to efforts made to market the emirate for investment.
Al Hajeri pointed out the Chamber’s willingness to provide all means of cooperation with media delegations from around the world, confident in the noble mission of the media to put the spot light on Sharjah’s advantages locally and globally.
For his part the Italian delegation expressed their admiration with what they saw of development that has reached all fields and sectors, not least in Sharjah Chamber, which will feature positively in their reports on the emirate after they return to their homeland.
The Italian delegation’s visit was initiated by an invitation by Sharjah government, to introduce them to the tourist and iconic places of heritage and culture, and its attractive facilities for commerce and investment.
