His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Salem bin Sultan Al Qassimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, praised the eighth edition of the Al Dhaid Date Festival, which was organized by the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry at the Expo Centre in Al Dhaid City, and the competitions and activities it includes that enhance its economic and heritage events across the UAE.
This came during His Highness’s visit to the festival’s activities, which lasted for four days, during which he viewed the most prominent types of dates and fruits, met a number of farmers and participants, and listened to a comprehensive explanation from them about the displayed varieties, their advantages, the practices that farmers follow to produce them, and how to care for the palm tree cultivation process.
The festival was also visited today by Sheikh Haitham bin Saqr Al Qassimi, Deputy Head of the Ruler's Office in Kalba, and His Excellency Abdullah bin Touq Al Marri, Minister of Economy, who praised the level of organization of the festival, which hosts palm farmers from across the country and specialized businesses in organic agriculture and mechanization with the goal to enhance interest in palm cultivation and improve it and encourage farm owners to adopt best practices in protecting palm trees and raising product quality, which contributes to enhancing food security and agricultural development.
