Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) and a high-level Indian delegation have met to discuss opportunities for cooperation and enhanced coordination to benefit investors in Sharjah’s manufacturing and higher education sectors. The two sides also explored exchanging expertise and best practices in the fields of investment, innovation, and economic venture initiatives, as well as cooperating to unleash new business opportunities.
The meeting took place during a visit to the Chamber by the Indian delegation, headed by Senthil Ganesh, Chairman of the Confederation of Indian Industry, Coimbatore. The delegation was received by Abdulaziz Mohammed Shattaf, Assistant Director-General, and was attended by Jamal Bu Zanjal, Director of the Corporate Communication and Public Relations Department, Hiba Almarzouqi, Section Head the Business Councils and Common Committees, and a number of officials from both sides.
Abdulaziz Shattaf welcomed the visiting delegation, highlighting the trade relations between the UAE and India and the facilities put forth by both sides under the banner of providing services and effective solutions for businessmen and companies, to support their ease of doing business and making investments. Shattaf stressed the meeting’s role in developing cooperation between the two parties and providing a space to exchange visions, ideas, and perspectives to boost the attractiveness of Sharjah’s investment climate. He also highlighted the need for joint action to launch projects, incentives, and benefits that meet the aspirations of the Emirate’s ambitious development plans.
Shattaf lauded the active and impactful role that Indian businessmen play in Sharjah by propelling development forward in commerce and industry fields. The manufacturing and higher education sectors, he said, have had a great impact in boosting the comprehensive economic development witnessed in Sharjah in particular and the UAE as a whole.
For his part, Senthil Ganesh, Chairman of the Confederation of Indian Industry, Coimbatore, expressed appreciation for the vital role that the SCCI plays in enhancing economic and trade cooperation between the UAE and India. He stressed the need to uncover new opportunities for future cooperation with the Chamber, thereby increasing the flow of Indian investments into the Emirate, and enhancing mutual economic ventures between Sharjah and the City of Coimbatore. He described his city as a key hub of the Indian State of Tamil Nadu and highlighted its many diverse industrial fields, notably the foodstuffs, clothing, agriculture, cotton, and textiles industries, in addition to heavy equipment and motor engineering, electronics, programming, defence, and aviation.
During the meeting, the two sides addressed means and mechanisms of enhancing cooperation to serve all sectors in Sharjah, discussing several shared issues of interest to investors and businessmen. They also exchanged ideas for attracting new investments in manufacturing and higher education. The Indian delegation was presented with a documentary film about Sharjah and a tour of the Chamber’s permanent photo gallery, and both sides participated in an introductory session that brought together businessmen and officials from the UAE and India.
