Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry received a delegation from the Statistics Department of the Sharjah Ports, Customs and Free Zones Authority to discuss cooperation and the exchange of statistical data on the foreign trade in the emirate, agreeing to set a general framework for making statistical data available for the business community.
The meeting was attended by Omar Ali Saleh, the Chamber's economic advisor, Yasser Obaid Hashem, Head of the Investors Service Section, and Abdul Rahman Al Ali, Senior Risk Management and Forecast Executive, Studies and Research Center, with Sultan Abdullah Al Doukhi, acting Chairperson of the Statistics Department and a number of accompanying officials.
The two sides discussed creating an extensive methodological and scientific database that serves decision-makers in setting future business strategies based on accurate statistics on exports, re-exports and imports for key exported and the imported commodities. It was agreed to set up a mechanism for cooperation with the competent government entities to achieve the desired goals of creating an open database for stakeholders and the business community in general, ultimately enhancing FDI (foreign direct investment).
