The Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry announced the signing of a memorandum of understanding with China Council for the Promotion of International Trade recently. The MOU, which aim to enhance Sharjah’s ties with international trade partners, will pave the way for a unique and mutually beneficial trade partnership between the two business communities.
Through the MoU signed with the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade - Ningxia Sub-Council, SCCI seeks to establish a long term partnership, involving economic collaboration in various sectors.
It also covers experience and knowledge sharing between the two parties, via a series of seminars, workshops, and meet-ups, introducing high level professional training, and data exchange on commodities, demand and offer, in addition to encouraging members of each party to participate in exhibitions and forums organized by the other party.
The signing was attended by HE Khaled bin Butti Al Hajri, Director- General of SCCI, and Mohammed Ahmed Amin, Assistant Director-General for Communication and Business. From the Chinese side, the signing was attended by Xie Zhongmei, Secretary General and Vice President of China Council for the Promotion of International Trade - Ningxia Sub-Council.
Commenting on the event, HE Abdullah Sultan Al Owais, Chairman of SCCI, said that the “signing represents a step in the right direction for building strong and promising partnerships with international partners, in line with the directives graciously extended by HH Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohamed Al-Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, aiming at enhancing Sharjah’s position as a hub for international business.”
For his part, bin Butti said: “The new MoU with our Chinese partners today represent an important step in strengthening our ties with this international mega economy, which will ultimately serve the business community in Sharjah and open new investment horizons in new sectors, such as tourism, commerce, logistic services, and industry”.
Xie Zhongmei, Secretary General and Vice President of China Council for the Promotion of International Trade - Ningxia Sub-Council, expressed her satisfaction with the new MoU and the prospected partnership between the two parties, commenting that such a partnership ushers a new era in trade and economic relations with Sharjah, an Emirate known for its attractive business and investment opportunities.
Zhongmei also invited SCCI to take part in the Chinese Arab Exhibition hosted in China next September, which represents a rich platform for collaboration between China and Arab states in all business sectors.
