The Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) welcomed a high-level delegation from the Colombian State of Boyaca State, led by Ramiro Bargain Adami, Governor of the state and included 40 Colombian companies specializing in the foodstuff and industrial sectors.
The meeting discussed prospects for economic cooperation between the Emirate of Sharjah and Boyaka, increased trade exchange, and opportunities for economic partnerships between business communities in a number of sectors. In addition to promoting meetings between trade delegations that would accelerate the performance of business sectors in various commercial, industrial, and service activities.
HE Abdullah Sultan Al Owais, Chairman, SCCI, said that the visit is a significant step forward towards strengthening relations between companies operating in Sharjah and Boyaca, considering that the Colombian market and the Latin American countries are promising markets in which Sharjah traders can expand their activities.
The total foreign trade between the UAE and Colombia during the period from 2010 to 2020 amounted to about 1,355,000,000 dollars, while the UAE's exports to Colombia in the first half of this year amounted to 167 million dollars.
Al Owais underlined that this forum aims to have these figures enhanced by forging economic partnerships that contribute to the development of the relationship between Sharjah and Colombia.
Such meetings provide an opportunity for companies to meet and discuss investment opportunities that can be leveraged, added Al Owais.
Ramiro Bargain Adami, said: "Our visit aims to explore investment opportunities in many vital sectors in both countries, such as agriculture, tourism, in addition to exchanging experiences and information.
He lauded the great potential the Emirate of Sharjah enjoys in all fields, inviting the SCCI to visit Boyaca and meet with Colombian companies and institutions and discuss opportunities for trade and investment cooperation.
