The Sharjah - Tajikistan Business Forum, held at the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry, discussed opportunities for partnership in commerce and investment between the local business community and its counterpart in the Republic of Tajikistan within a group of sectors of interest.
The Forum, organized by Sharjah Chamber in cooperation with the Exports Agency in the Republic of Tajikistan, kicked off with the two sides expressing their appreciation for the well-founded ties bringing them together and stressed holding such meetings to intensify cooperation and explore opportunities for the key sectors of commerce, industry, agriculture, food products, renewable energy, water, mining, tourism, infrastructure and logistics.
The event was attended by His Excellency Abdullah Sultan Al Owais, Board Chairman, HE Sharifi Bahadur, Ambassador of the Republic of Tajikistan to the UAE, HE Shawket Papazada, Director General of the Exports Agency in the Republic of Tajikistan, board members HE Raghda Taryam Omran, HE Nasser Musabah Al-Tunaiji, HE Obaid Awad Obaid Al-Tunaiji, HE Mohammed Hilal Al-Hazami, HE Mohammed Ahmed Amin Al-Awadi, Director General, in addition to representatives of the business communities from both sides.
Al Owais welcomed the visiting delegation and encouraged exploring more commercial and investment opportunities on both sides and developing fruitful partnerships for the private sectors, strengthening economic and commercial partnerships in Central Asia region, pointing out that Tajikistan is an important destination and a promising area for investment with the potential for establishing sustainable partnerships with the local business community.
Al-Owais called on Tajik businessmen to hold a special exhibition of Tajik products at Expo Center Sharjah, make partnerships in various economic fields prosperous locally including industry, trade, investment, tourism and logistics services, as the Chamber was keen to support investors and companies wishing to establish businesses locally, underpinned by a policy of economic diversification, advanced infrastructure and logistics, pioneering projects in various sectors, with Expo Center Sharjah attracting thousands of visitors and exhibiting companies, in addition to free zones and industrial cities, largest in the region.
HE Shawket Papazada, Director General of the Exports Agency of the Republic of Tajikistan, expressed his happiness to discuss economic cooperation and trade exchange in a market of various investment opportunities of interest in Tajikistan with its strategic location on the Silk Road and adjacent to key players in Asia such as China and India, in addition to being third globally in the aluminium industry, a major producer of clean energy, cotton, vegetables and fruits. Local regulations and laws in Tajikistan encourage investment and protect investors in all vital sectors, including agriculture, commerce, tourism and the service sectors, and he concluded by praising the investment climate, strategic location and the business environment that distinguish Sharjah emirate, with legislation and laws that encourage investment and protect investors, and stressed his desire to strengthen cooperation with the Sharjah.
