The Representative Committee of the Industry Sector of the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce & Industry, SCCI, appreciated the relentless efforts of Sharjah government to support the private and business sectors through the recently adopted stimulus package, underlining that these efforts would help reinforce the capabilities of the industrial sector and alleviate its financial burdens to be able to pursue its business.
The committee also lauded the SCCI’s initiatives, including the stimulus package to contain the spread of the new coronavirus (COVID-19) and its consequences on the various economic sectors.
This was stated during the virtual meeting of the committee headed by Lalu Samuel, Chairman of the Representative Committee of the Industry Sector, in the presence of the committee members and Amjad Awad al Karim, Head of the Sectoral Business Groups Department.
The meeting touched on the future plans to confront the repercussions of the virus and what should be done post-COVID-19 stage, in addition to discussing the challenges of the industrial sector in the current circumstances.
The meeting comes as part of the SCCI’s commitment, as being the first representative of Sharjah’s private sector, to learn closely about the current affairs of the different economic sectors in light of the global and local economic circumstances.
“Such meetings are a good opportunity to explore the prospects for growth and competition and to learn closely about the future plans of each sector and the most important challenges affecting their businesses,” added the SCCI, calling on the industrial sector to overcome the challenges and develop the necessary solutions.
Expressing its firm commitment to the directives of the wise leadership in terms of backing the business sector through the various initiatives and the vigorous follow up on the latest developments to mitigate the burdens on this sector, the Chamber underlined that the industry sector is one of the key priorities of the Emirate of Sharjah, thanks to the sector's pivotal role in the national economy and its support to the development process in Sharjah.
The meeting also dealt with issues of common interest to the domestic industrial affairs, including the investment, the production, the marketing, and the export, as well as addressing the challenges in the current circumstances and ways of overcoming them, as part of SCCI’s efforts in cooperation the competent authorities in Sharjah.
