The Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI), in cooperation with the Expo 2020 Office, recently has organized an “induction” or Introductory workshop entitled “Expo 2020”, which is part of the Chamber's initiatives to stimulate the Sharjah business community to participate in this upcoming global event. The event will be held in Dubai between the specified periods (20th of October 2020 till 10th of April 2021). This special occasion will be presented under a very impressive slogan: “Connecting Minds and Making the Future”. The workshops will be focusing on certain subjects such as, mechanisms of registration in Expo platforms, as well as presentation of certain privileges for companies and some other, economic institutions. The workshop will be explaining some of the benefits and the initiatives that supports the SMEs and entrepreneurs, in addition the workshop will explain how to volunteer in the event. The workshop was presented by Alia Al Shehhi, The Coordinator of Dubai Expo 2020 Office, in the presence of his excellency Mohammed Ahmed Amin Al Awadhi, The Director General of Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry, And Ibrahim Rashid Al Jarwan, The Director of Economic Relations and Marketing Department at Sharjah Chamber, and Maryam Al Shamsi, The Assistant Director General of the Chamber for Support Services Sector. And some other representatives from industrial and commercial sectors, governmental employees, and a number of entrepreneurs from the chamber. National project In his welcoming speech, his Excellency Mohammed Ahmed Amin Al Awadhi highlighted the importance of this workshop, shedding lights on its importance, as it serves for international sphere, rather than just being considered as a local event. The UAE and specifically the emirates of Dubai, has always been known to be reflecting the depth and the vision of the wise leadership, however, with this upcoming event, whether, it is a cultural or innovative development, UAE is uprising any occasion to enhance the UAE society, and to take them a step further by boosting all cultural, educational, or any innovative, technological developments which are based on science and creative activities. He also stressed that, the event is aimed not only to develop Dubai’s economy, but, also to support other governments and inspire innovative people from all around the world at all levels to participate in this momentum event and opportunity. Al-Awadhi added that Expo 2020 Dubai, is a national project which calls for all emirates, and all UAE representatives from different commercial or industrial sectors to benefit from this pioneering event. Stressing the Trade or Finance Chamber's commitment to provide all the possibilities available to achieve the positive participation of the private sector and entrepreneurs. During the workshop, Alia Al Shehhi reviewed the latest phases of the completion of projects related to Expo 2020, focusing on the mechanisms for the coordination and cooperation efforts between the joint teams. She has mentioned, the importance of mobilizing creative human resources and pioneering the initiatives to ensure the state's ability to host this civilized event more efficiently than its competitors. The UAE has won the Expo 2020 Dubai, and it is a great opportunity where Expo is being held as the first time in the Middle East, Africa and South Asia. Expo fairs continue to be one of the largest and most important international events, held every five years for a maximum of 6 months. It attracts millions of visitors wishing to explore the pavilions and cultural events.
