The board of the Sharjah chamber of commerce and industry confirmed its commitment to efficient institutional performance and diligent work to preserve the gains achieved during the past period. The board, further, reaffirmed the adoption of global best practices and innovative initiatives which ensures the leading role of the private sector in Sharjah and enhances the status of the business community in the Emirate as a regional and global destination. During its regular meeting, held under the chairmanship of Abdulallah Sultan Al Owais, the board discussed the future plans to support the business environment and enhance its performance, with the adoption of a number of innovative initiatives that will have positive effects on the business environment competitiveness. The Board reviewed a number of strategic plans to focus on supporting and developing the Emirate's exports to new and promising markets, stressing the importance of permanent and continuous coordination with the chamber’s partners from concerned government agencies and Chambers operating in the State to achieve common interests and enhance the status of the State and its economy as a destination for foreign direct investment. The meeting also discussed the need for optimal use of resources and investment in developing internal infrastructure to provide intelligent services to satisfy the customers and focus on embracing emerging, small and medium-sized enterprises and support entrepreneurship as the heartbeat of the business community. The board reviewed the plans of Expo Sharjah, praising its achievements which made it one of the most important centers for organizing and hosting global events. The Chairman of the chamber praised the wise directives of H.H. Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohamad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah and his unlimited support to the chamber which led to the global status of the emirate as a preferred destination for business.
