The Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) hosted the 5th board meeting of the International Chamber of Commerce – United Arab Emirates (ICC-UAE) at Al Hisn Conference Hall .
The meeting was aimed at discussing the plans of the ICC-UAE to develop their services, raise their reputation and rankings to levels superior to international counterparts, ensure a larger representation of the local business community worldwide and promote the chamber, their services and forthcoming activities.
Chaired by Humaid Mohammed bin Salem, Chairman of the ICC-UAE, the agenda of the meeting included the approval of the minutes of the previous meeting hosted at RAK Chamber of Commerce and Industry in May, 22nd 2016. Other items of the agenda covered a review of the activities and participations of the chamber in 2016.
In 2016, the ICC-UAE participated in the ICC World Chambers Federation Congress, the ICC’s 4th annual Conference on International Arbitration in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) which took place in Dubai, last April and the ICC Permanent Heads Meeting in Sao Paulo, Brazil, 15-16 June 2016.
The ICC-UAE’s board of directors reviewed the package of benefits and privileges offered to the corporate members in the UAE and the future plans to develop these services and expand the membership base to include a larger segment of the local business community.
The ICC-UAE’s upcoming activities and events were highlighted during the meeting. The chamber plans to participate in the ICC-UAE Trade Finance Conference and the ICC’s 8th regional congress in the Middle East, and is preparing to hold the ICC-UAE’s 6th board meeting in December 14.
Fatima Khalifa Al Mukarab, Member of the ICC-UAE, commended the vital role of the ICC-UAE in promoting investment opportunities and developing business environment in line with the competitiveness of the UAE in terms of economic development. He expressed the SCCI’s commitment to strengthen its partnership and cooperation with the ICC-UAE. “This is to ensure the effective integration of roles and responsibilities and support the economic diversification strategy guided by our prudent leadership”, he added.
