On Friday, Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry concluded the activities of the 28th Sharjah Ramadan Festival that spanned over the holy month of Ramadan and Eid period. Organized throughout all the regions in the Emirate of Sharjah, the festival’s activities attracted wide attendance of all community segments.
1750 outlets took part in the annual event and recorded over AED50 million in sales. Visitors and shoppers won cash prizes and other gift products with total value of over AED2 million.
Abdullah Sultan Al Oweis, Chairman of the Board of Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry said: “the wide participation and positive impact of the festival assert that the Sharjah Ramadan Festival has achieved remarkable success in its 28th edition. With its unique prizes and offers, the festival is attracting increasing importance every year, and has recently became one of the key social, economic, and shopping events in Sharjah.”
For his part, Khaled bin Butti Al Hajeri, Director General of Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry noted that the number of visitors and shoppers at mall during the festival period is increasing annually, especially as this year’s version offered sales up to 80%, in addition to amazing prizes that exceeded AED2 million in value.
Mohammed Ahmed Amin, Assistant Director-General for Communication and Business Sector explained that the festival has again proven its importance on the events agenda in Sharjah as shoppers and retailers anticipate it to get great offers for the first and realize increasing sales for the latter. It is representing an active season for tourism, from the UAE and abroad, as residents and visitors of Sharjah are keen to utilize the promotions offered during the festival.
Ibrahim Rashid Al Jarwan, Director of Economic Relations at the Chamber pointed out that sales always increase during the holy month of Ramadan. “This year we realized a record number in sales, while shopping malls recorded 30-35% increase in sales.
Sharjah Ramadan Festival 2017 hosted various activities and events, including cultural, medical and heritage lectures and seminars. It also witnessed multiple art and entertainment shows at malls. The organizing committee was keen to enrich the experience of visitors with daily draws for cash and product prizes; in addition to the grand prize offered by Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry; “Nissan Patrol” that the lucky winner got following an electronic draw on the last day of Eid.
