Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) has announced the opening of the 2nd edition of the Sharjah Economic Excellence Award “ShjSEEN”. A prominent initiative in its field, the Award encourages the private sector to adopt best business practices and increase competitiveness among companies while ensuring the highest standards of innovation, leadership, and excellence.
The multi-category Award aims to promote corporate governance, and encourage businesses to adopt best practices and highest quality standards. T also aims to enhance business ethics and strengthen social responsibility, as well as environmentally-friendly practices. The Award also seeks to transform the role of private economic enterprises in a way that would increase their contributions to sustainable economic growth and organizational excellence. The Award therefore provides private businesses with many facilities, launches new projects and initiatives, tirelessly encourages economic enterprises to grow and excel, and celebrates their achievements.
Companies and private institutions are invited to compete for the ShjSEEN’s six categories, including Sharjah Top 10 Businesses Award, the Sharjah UAE Start-up Award in the UAE, the Sharjah Entrepreneur Award, the Sharjah Green Award, and the Sharjah Corporate Social Responsibility Award. This year, the Award also includes for the first time the Sharjah Top 10 Gulf Businesses Award. Registration closes in October 2017.
His Excellency Abdullah Sultan Al Owais, Chairman of Sharjah Chamber of Commerce & Industry and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Sharjah Economic Excellence Award, said that the Award has become a model of excellence and innovation in the business community. It celebrates outstanding businesses and motivates the private sector to enhance its performance in an increasingly competitive and innovative business environment. Distinguished private Businesses that carefully read the Business market and keep pace with its changing and evolving nature, said Al Owais, will flourish.
“The addition of the new category is a clear indication of the Award’s position among its counterparts in the region,” Al Owais added.
For her part, Nada Al Hajri, General Coordinator of Sharjah Economic Excellence Award, pointed out that the Award has developed private business assessment models, updated participation categories and standards, and improved nomination mechanisms and arbitration methodologies to keep abreast of the best global practices and developments in this area. Al-Hajri emphasized that the Award adopts practices from the best models of global institutional evaluation to become a comprehensive model, one that is useful to all participating companies.
Al Hajri highlighted the diverse nature of the award categories that cover important business aspects, which responds to the diverse business environment. Accordingly, some prizes are awarded to entrepreneurs while others go to emerging businesses. In that sense, the Award continuously proves to be unique in serving the business community in the Emirate of Sharjah and the UAE.
