Sharjah Chamber recently celebrated the middle of the Hijri month of Shaaban with “Haqil-laila” traditional event at Sharjah Chamber’s headquarters, as part of the Chamber’s keenness to celebrate social and traditional Emirati days and instilling them in the hearts of children.
The event was attended by HE Khaled bin Butti Al Hajeri, Director General, Marriam Al Shamsi, Assistant Director General for Support Services Sector, Mohammad Ahmed Amin, Assistant Director General for Communication and Business Sector, and staff members from the Chamber and Expo Centre Sharjah.
Students from Al Darary and Al Khan Model schools took part in the event, in addition to home of the elderly in Sharjah, as well as Emirati artist Ghazal who sang for the children, dressed in their traditional Emirati dresses in delight for this blessed evening and later receiving sweets and nuts.
The event comprised a traditional tent in the lobby of the Chamber that was decorated with Emirati flags, where traditional Emirati dishes and sweets were presented for all attendees, and some traditional handiwork crafts were showcased in their dedicated tents.
At the end of the celebrations HE Khaled Al Hajeri honored participants and certificates of appreciation were distributed among them and they had their pictures taken.
Celebrating this event is part of authentic Emirati heritage, passed on from generation to generation, and children are keen to celebrate it every year by visiting their neighbors’ houses and carrying small cloth bags to collect sweets and nuts in, making their hosts happy, while signing their forefathers’ traditional hymns or “anashid”, which contributes to enhancing their national and cultural identity and safeguarding their heritage and culture.
