The Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) has discussed ways to strengthen and develop the economic, commercial and investment relations, in a meeting with the Japan External Trade Organisation (JETRO) in Dubai and the Middle East. The discussion also included promoting the opportunities and advantages of investment available in the Emirate of Sharjah.
HE. Khaled bin Butti Al Hajri, Director-General of the SCCI expressed his happiness at the visit during his meeting with Masami Ando, Managing Director of JETRO Dubai and MENA, and his accompanying delegation at the Chamber's headquarters in Sharjah. He stressed that Japan is one of the most important trading partners of the UAE. The two sides reviewed what the chamber provides in terms of support to enhance cooperation between companies and economic institutions in Japan and Sharjah, especially in small and medium enterprises.
HE. Khaled bin Butti Al Hajri noted that the cooperation between the two countries is witnessing increasing growth in various fields, including small and medium-sized enterprises. He added that the Chamber has reviewed the unique investment opportunities in the emirate of Sharjah at multiple levels, especially in the industrial, tourism, commercial and logistics sectors. He also pointed out the legislative and legal environment that characterizes the emirate represents a strong attraction for investors.
He also stated that there is plenty of room for small and medium-sized companies in the two countries to cooperate in light of the economic and trade relations, as well as opportunities in sectors that are a priority on the development agenda in the emirate of Sharjah and the country in general. He called on the Organization to invest and encourage Japanese businessmen to exploit the various investment opportunities in the emirate.
Masami Ando, Managing Director of JETRO Dubai and MENA, stressed the strength of the historical and economic relations between the two countries. He pointed out that the progress, prosperity, and diversification in the economic sectors and investment opportunities of the Emirate of Sharjah opens the door for more economic partnership with Japan, in order to benefit from the unique technical and artistic expertise of Japan. He noted that the meeting provided an opportunity to stimulate companies and entrepreneurs from both countries to form partnerships.
At the end of the meeting, Khaled bin Butti Al Hajri accompanied the visiting delegation on a field tour of the permanent exhibition of local products hosted by the Chamber. The exhibition includes more than 100 factories that were selected from more than 2,200 factories that are located in the Emirate of Sharjah. The delegation was also briefed on the most important services provided by Sharjah Chamber to facilitate the endeavors of companies and the business sector in the emirate. Masami Ando praised the exhibition and the quality of the products offered.
