As part of its commitment to serve its members, the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) discussed ways of cooperation with the Emirates Authority for Standardization and Metrology (EASM).
The meeting took place at the EASM’s headquarters in Dubai, recently, and was attended by senior officials from both organizations.
The chamber’s delegation presented the challenges faced by food products exporters and the feedback reports from exporters on the customs clearance procedures.
Issues of mutual interest were, also, discussed during the meeting. The delegation was familiarized with the procedures to obtain the Emirates Quality Mark (Halal), granted to facilities conforming to the requirements of the UAE System for the Control of Halal Products. The GCC’s first of its kind Halal accreditation is aimed at strengthening the leading position of the UAE as a reliable hub for export and re-export of Halal products.
The two sides discussed ways to promote the participation of the GCC’s members in the technical workshops and awareness seminar offered by the EASM to partners and clients. The EASM will coordinate with the SCCI on workshops to the private sector companies in the Emirate of Sharjah.
Yousef Yaqoub Al Qaseer praised the efforts made by EASM to build confidence in national products and to develop quality systems. He said: “The visit is a great opportunity to learn from the EASM experience in health, safety and environmental protection and their best practices in consumer protection.
